I actually have a buddy playing in this golf tournament, so I'm going to go watch him, you know, to lend him some moral support. Oh, and also to see the unveiling of the new cheerleader calendar. I've got priorities!

Magic Wall

I caught the Astros game last night versus the Cubs. One hit sent the ball into the ivy wall in the outfield, and somehow it knocked a second ball loose. I guess it had been caught in the ivy, just hanging out there for a while. Jim Edmonds' double-take was priceless, like, "What the...? Where did that one come from?"

A blast from the past sparked by a Texans sponsor

Too funny... Gallery Furniture is a Houston Texans sponsor. Talk about a quintessential Houston establishment. I remember growing up in Houston, watching that silly man hopping up and down on TV tossing cash in the air... you remember him, don't you? Gallery Furniture really will...save... you... MONEEEEEE!

Hmmm... is it strange that I'm having pleasant childhood flashbacks about Mattress Mac?

NFL Europa calls it quits

In a change of strategy in its global marketing, the NFL has decided to discontinue NFL Europa in favor of a broader worldwide approach involving internationally-staged regular season games. Although Germany will miss out on a lot of the action considering that it more or less hosts NFL Europa, more destinations will get at least a quick chance to host a game or two. It seems to me that decreasing regular exposure of fans to the sport in favor of a more watered down approach is not entirely productive, but we'll see how they do with this campaign.
